What is it?

With the Adaco Product Catalog API, you can add and update products in Fourth Adaco and retrieve details about the products for your non-POS systems.

When adding products, the API can create the underlying reference data on the fly; new segments, categories, sub-categories, accounts and vendors are all created as necessary.

Meanwhile, the data you can retrieve with this API is rich, with all but custom fields (used by POS systems only) returned. This means you can retrieve anything known about the product, such as vendor-specific purchase products and sizes, or the underlying categorizations.

The Adaco Product Catalog API is an HTTP REST API, making integration easy.

Why use it?

One of the biggest benefits is that you can use Fourth Adaco as the master record for all your product data, regardless of where the data originates from. This removes any need for manual data entry, drastically reducing errors and mismatched product listings from entering your systems.

Integrating with new vendors catalogs or your own legacy product data is fast, as the API creates underlying reference data on the fly. And as new products become available and others are discontinued, your vendors can update their catalog automatically in Fourth Adaco.

Detailed information about each product item — like type, size, stock availability, and even nutritional value — is accessible using the API. You can distribute this data to any other software you use, such as specialist property management, reporting, engineering, or warehousing systems. This means your maintenance staff can order light bulbs, your kitchen staff can check stock levels, and your analytics team can run reports all using data retrieved from the same source.
